Use of AI in our newsroom

Last updated: October 2, 2026

At Quantum is Coming we use artificial intelligence to prepare part of what we publish. This page explains what for, how we keep it in check and how each piece tells you.

1 · What we use AI for

An automated agent tracks primary sources: scientific papers, standards, lab and company announcements, and official documents. From them it prepares drafts of news and summaries, or gathers research for a person to write. The AI does not generate images: the ones that go with our pieces are photographs or graphics with their credit.

2 · What the AI does not do

  • It does not publish. The agent can only leave pieces pending review; the system prevents it even if it tries.
  • It does not sign. Pieces are signed by the person who reviews them or by “Redacción” (the newsroom), never by the agent.
  • It does not decide what is true. Every figure, date or verifiable claim comes with its source and a confidence level, and a person checks it.
  • It does not read what you send us. Messages from the contact form do not go through any AI tool and are not used to train models.

3 · How each piece is reviewed

Before an AI-prepared piece is published, a member of the newsroom:

  • reviews the headline, the summary and the text;
  • ticks every verifiable claim one by one: without those ticks, the piece cannot be published;
  • checks that the cited sources exist and respond: if a source does not respond, the system blocks publication;
  • decides whether the piece is published, corrected or discarded.

If the agent changes a piece after it has been reviewed, the ticks are cleared and the review has to be done again.

4 · How it is labelled

Each piece carries a label depending on the role the AI played:

LabelWhat it means
AI-generatedDrafted by an AI system from the sources cited. Reviewed and published by our editors.
AI-assistedWritten by our editors with AI support for research.

Pieces without a label were written by a person without AI help. The label comes from a checkbox in the editor rather than being typed by hand, so it cannot be forgotten.

5 · Why we tell you

Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act requires AI-generated text published to inform the public to be disclosed, unless a person has reviewed it and holds editorial responsibility, as is the case here. Even so, we prefer to always say it: readers have the right to know how what they read was made.

6 · Errors and corrections

If you find a figure that does not add up, write to us from the contact page with the reason “Correction”, and tell us the URL and the exact detail. We correct errors in the piece itself.
